We believe that responsible cat ownership means finding the right balance between what you want, what your cat needs, and what's good for the environment.

Responsible Cat Ownership

At Tofu Cat Litter Australia, we believe that responsible cat ownership is essential for the well-being of both cats and the environment. This involves creating a healthy and safe environment for your cat, regular vet check-ups, and using eco-friendly products such as ours to promote sustainability in your home. By finding the right balance between the owner's preferences, the cat's needs, and environmental considerations, we can all help create a better world for ourselves and our furry friends.

It is important to note that some states in Australia have recently prohibited outdoor cats. This is because lost cats can become feral and pose a threat to native wildlife. We encourage all cat owners to follow these regulations and keep their cats indoors or in a secure outdoor space to protect the local ecosystem. Providing your cat with a comfortable environment, including a suitable litter box with our innovative cat litter, is just one way to ensure your cat's happiness and well-being while also caring for the environment.

Different Types of Cat Litter

Pea fibre is a renewable and sustainable resource used as the main ingredient in Tofu Cat Litter Australia. Not only is it an eco-friendly option, but it also offers excellent absorbent properties and is naturally odour-controlling. Unlike other types of litter, pea fibre is dust-free and gentle on your cat's paws, providing a comfortable and safe litter box experience.

Clay litter, for example, is a popular choice due to its affordability and convenience, but it can be dusty and harmful to your cat's respiratory health. On the other hand, silica gel litter is more expensive and may not be as effective in controlling odours. Recycled paper litter is also a great option for eco-conscious pet owners, but it may not absorb as well as other types of litter. Pine litter has a pleasant scent and is biodegradable, but it may not be as absorbent as pea fibre litter.

Why Pea Fibre?

Tofu Cat Litter Australia uses natural pea fibre as the primary ingredient in its litter. It is a sustainable and renewable resource, making it an eco-friendly option. Pea fibre is also naturally odour-controlling and has exceptional absorbent properties.

Additionally, it has a stable pH level, which means it is less likely to ferment and helps to neutralize unpleasant odours.

Tofu Cat Litter Australia uses a proprietary manufacturing process to ensure our product is 99% dust-free and helps to reduce tracking outside the litter box. This means less mess for you to clean up and a cleaner home for your cat to live in.

In addition, the fine granules are also more comfortable for your cat to step on. Cats can be picky about the texture of their litter, and if they don't like the way it feels, they may avoid using the litter box altogether. Also the small granules helps to reduct tracking outside of the litter box.

With Tofu Cat Litter Australia, your cat will be more likely to use the litter box consistently and comfortably.

Benefits of Patented Activated Enzyme Technology

Tofu Cat Litter Australia's patented activated enzyme technology utilizes an organic process to neutralize the smelly chemicals in cat urine and feces. Unlike other brands that simply mask unpleasant smells, the enzymes break down the odour molecules at the source. These enzymes are organic substances that work by reacting with smelly culprits like ethanethiol and ammonia, ultimately breaking them down into non-odourous byproducts. This natural process ensures that the odour is eliminated rather than masked using heavy chemical fragrances, which can be an irritant for cats' sensitive noses.

Choosing Litter Box Size and Location

The litter box(s) you pick should be approximately 1.5 times the length of your cat, allowing them enough space to move around comfortably. Bear in mind that plant based litter works better with a smaller litter tray to allow fir a thick layer of plant based litter at all times for best performance. It's also essential to keep the litter box away from damp areas or locations with high humidity, as moisture can cause the litter to go bad.

In addition, we recommend having one litter box per cat, plus an additional one, and to place them in quiet, low-traffic areas of your home. We recommend placing the litter box away from your cat's food and water bowls, as cats prefer to have their food and bathroom areas separate.

Switching from your cat's existing litter

Introducing your cat to a new litter can be a challenge, but by gradually introducing it to your cat, you can make the transition as smooth as possible.

We recommend introducing the new litter gradually over three days, starting with a ratio of 50% old litter and 50% new litter on day one, then moving to a ratio of 25% old litter and 75% new litter on day two, before finally using 100% new litter on day three. This allows your cat to gradually adjust to the new scent and texture of the litter.

Our product has a long shelf life, with unopened bags lasting up to three years when stored in a cool, dry environment. Once opened, it should be used within three months and kept sealed and away from damp environments to maintain its freshness and effectiveness.

On this page, we'll also provide information on the different types of cat litter available and why pea fibre is the main ingredient in our product. We'll explain the benefits of our patented activated enzyme technology for odour control, and provide tips on litter box size and location, how often to change/clean the litter box, and how to dispose of the litter.

How Often to Change/Clean the Litter Box

To maintain a clean litter box, it is crucial to scoop it out clumps and solids daily and clean out the litter box entirely every 4-5 weeks. The frequency may depend on the number of cats in the household, the size of the litter box, and the environment in which the litter box is placed. If there are signs of mold and/or sour smell, please change out the whole litter box content.

How to Dispose of the Litter

Tofu Cat Litter Australia is flushable and biodegradable, making it an easy and eco-friendly option for litter box waste. However, it is essential to flush only small amounts at a time in well maintained systems. If flushing is not an option, it can be disposed of in a compost bin or regular trash.

Warning: Do not flush the entire litter box in one go.
